April Riordan has more than 20 years of experience as a youth development, mentoring, volunteerism, and nonprofit leader. Most recently, she worked for Big Brothers Big Sisters Twin Cities as Vice President of Strategy & Innovation. Prior to joining BBBS, April spent 10 years providing training and technical assistance to hundreds of nonprofits and mentoring programs through statewide intermediary organizations, including Habitat for Humanity of Minnesota and MENTOR Minnesota. While at MENTOR Minnesota, she launched a research-to-practice webinar series that is now the Collaborative Mentoring Webinar Series and was instrumental in the development of Minnesota’s online quality mentoring assessment tool, now a national model. Early in her career, April spent more than a decade developing and leading quality youth development and mentoring programs at schools, camps and community centers, including creating two award-winning and long-standing youth mentoring programs. April earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Hamline University, served two years with AmeriCorps, and earned a certificate for nonprofit management leadership from Harvard Kennedy School for Executive Education.
